If your document is going to another country, you likely need an apostille. If it's staying in the U.S., an online notarization is usually what you need. Not sure? Send me a message and I'll point you in the right direction.
Not when it was notarized online in Virginia, at least for now. Some other states will apostille documents notarized online by their own notaries, but even then, it's up to the destination country whether it accepts an apostilled document that was notarized remotely. If your document is going abroad, confirm with the receiving agency first, and send it to me for a free review before you do anything, so it's done the right way.
No. My notary services are online only. In-person notarization is available only for apostille clients, by appointment in Bristol and Abingdon, VA.
No. The receiving organization decides what it requires, so please confirm with them first. Once you know what they need, I'll make sure your documents are apostilled correctly.
An apostille is a certificate from a government office that verifies the signature and seal on a U.S. public document, so countries in the Hague Apostille Convention recognize it.
Countries that belong to the Hague Apostille Convention accept them. Check my Hague Countries page for the current list of members.
No. Apostilles are issued only by a state's Secretary of State (in Virginia, the Secretary of the Commonwealth) or the U.S. Department of State. I prepare, submit and track your request on your behalf.
Yes. I serve clients nationwide and work with every state's apostille office.
Usually not. Documents generally need to be originals, certified copies or properly notarized. If your copy won't qualify, I'll catch it during your free review.
It depends. Certified vital records and court records usually don't need to be notarized. Many private documents, such as powers of attorney, affidavits and school letters, must be notarized first. Federal documents should never be notarized. If yours needs notarizing, I offer in-person appointments for apostille clients in Bristol and Abingdon, VA.
I currently work with Hague Convention countries only and am not handling embassy legalizations at this time.
Rejections usually come from an incomplete notarial certificate, the wrong type of copy, or the wrong office. My free review is designed to catch these first. If an office still rejects a document, I'll explain why and what needs to be corrected.
Every State and Federal apostille is a flat rate that includes your document review, preparation, submission and standard tracked return shipping within the U.S. Additional documents from the same state (or additional federal documents) are at a reduced rate. I confirm your price in writing after your free review, before you pay or ship anything.
Each government office sets its own processing times, and they change throughout the year. I can't control them, but I'll give you a realistic estimate and keep you updated at each step. For federal documents, an expedited courier add-on typically cuts processing time in half. Overnight and 2-day shipping are also available to shorten transit time.
Mail them to me with tracking, using a rigid mailer. Don't fold, staple or remove staples from your documents. I'll email you mailing instructions with your quote, and let you know as soon as your documents arrive.
Yes. Every apostille order is tracked both ways, and I'll confirm when your documents arrive and when they ship back to you.
Yes. International return shipping is available as an add-on.
Yes. Your documents and personal information are used only to complete your order, and digital copies are deleted once your order is complete.
Yes. Remote online notarization is recognized in most states, and online notarizations performed by a commissioned notary in another state are generally accepted. If you're unsure, check with the person or agency receiving your document.

es, remote online closings only, for title companies, lenders and signing services. I don't accept mobile or in-person signings.
Some countries require a translation in addition to the apostille. Check with the receiving agency, including whether the translation must be notarized or apostilled. Translation is available as an add-on, so you can order both together.
Certified translations are available in more than 150 languages through a trusted partner, with a signed certificate of accuracy.
Send me a message and I'll get back to you. If your document is going abroad, the quickest way to get answers is a free document review: I'll confirm what it needs and your price in writing, before you pay or ship anything.
